Going Gothic....

"I will stand by your side, hunt at your back, and fly within your Soul.
I will stand between you and all which would harm you.
I will shield you from the Light of Day with my flesh.
I will never betray you, for you are my Heart, my Soul and my Life."

Aren't those romantic vows? i find them intriguing, mysterious, and they bring deeper meaning of knowing your other half will be there for you, haunting your back...always by your side..
As you embark on the journey of choosing a wedding theme there is one popular theme where these vows fall in to place. This theme would bring together a magical powers of love and provide a wedding like never seen before by any of your guests...The ever romantic gothic theme.....lets start with the perfect invitations to this event..
the first is for goths with humor and could be used in other themes...committed in straight jackets sets the tone that your gothic wedding will be like no wedding anyone has attendedbefore....

now this next invitation sets a more serious tone.....but i think it would work nicely. I really like the red blood faded heart on the skull...nice detail...

The next element for your gothic wedding that should be the colors....here are your choices...

BLACK, BLOOD RED, BLACK, DARK PURPLE, BLACK, GRAY and BLACK....i know so many choices, how will you ever decide?

As we move forward in your planning you need to begin to think about location....now locations for gothic weddings need to set the tone. I have selected a few pictures of great places you should consider....

The first would be for an outdoor setting. Not only do you have an old vacant structure, you have the moss, the spooky forest and staircases. I could envision this location at dusk becoming the perfect place for your wedding seance. I would recommend tiki torches, old rusty chairs for your guests and possible a huge spotlight to make it look like a huge full moon above you...

this next gothic location.... looks so spooky in the snow. A mansion or castle are perfect for gothic weddings because one they are old and two they can easily be made to look spooky. In many cases some of these large homes have spirits that visitors say live there or visit there. Being near the spirits is an important element if you want to truly full fill your gothic theme.

While the first two pictures i showed were not local for you and alex. There are some locations on both sides of our state that would full fill the haunting aspect of the gothic wedding. Two which are pricier..and one i think you could do for free...the first is the davenport, which is said to have a number of ghost that could haunt your vows, the next would be thornwood castle in lakewood, which was brought over from Europe and rebuilt in lakewood around 1900, the third and cheapest would be to go out in to the woods of forks, and get hitched amongst the rain, moss, and mystery of the rain forest....so start picking...the spirits and ghost need to put it on their calenders...

Next up...the perfect gothic photo session....this couple dove into the theme and in this even the groom is in a white dress, posing as spirits for there engagement photos...so think cemetery for your engagement photos or pre-ceremony photos..it will really help set the tone for the theme...

Next up..and a VERY VERY important element of the gothic wedding...attire...the photos below will guide you, and inspire you to find the perfect gothic attire ideas. Here are your inspiration pieces...

first up...using the dark purple...white is of course to mainstream for your gothic wedding...just look at this bride she is glowing with gothic powers... i really think its important to point out the purple vial..and her tattoo...u should probably think about a few large tattoos before your big day to help with the theme..

next we have BLOOD RED.....

and now..the bride and groom who took there make-up in to the theme...she did however where white...i guess that's allowed in the gothic world if you put blood coming out your eyes...

i like this one because they look like ugly horror dolls...very gothic!

and last but not least..the winner in my mind of the gothic look..this stunningly beautiful bride and her father....

one thing good about going gothic for your wedding is not needing to tan...i appreciate that in a wedding..now remember as you plan attire..guys can get away with tuxes still..but top hats will help them pull off the theme...along with canes and creepy bow ties...

next up...for today's blog of gothic inspiration..is the cake..motivated by the last blog i am sure you are wondering what you should have for your event....here are three ideas...

those cakes need no commentary...all would work depending on the colors you would like to highlight. the first cake was from the same wedding as the purple bride....
Now no wedding is complete without the wedding song. So in closure of today's blog i would like you to take a listen to this one....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf_woz-Tp0I
thanks for reading..and happy gothic planning...

let's eat cake!!!

Wedding Cakes can be the showcase of a wedding reception! People love to incorporate their wedding theme, or personality into the wedding cakes, and than cut into them and smear them all over each others faces.....here are a few cakes....from actual weddings i would like to warn you about Miss Trish....

1..... the donut cake...however i am not sure if the donuts are tackier or the topper...the topper is awful so avoid that too (more to come about toppers in a future post)

2. Life Size Cake Of Yourself...look at this photo! Seriously!!! what was this bride thinking? who grows up thinking, "oh at my wedding i dream of a life size cake of me!" so so creepy and weird...do you really want your guest eating you? wonder what flavor she made herself...

3. Hostess Cake.. this cake is actually constructed nicely, but its a hostess art...and really looks more like a wedding that should happen at the quickly mart..not on your dream day!

4. PEEP.... the peep heads on the bride and groom put this cake over the top...not all people enjoy these marshmallow friends, but this bride and groom must of. i like to think there new last name was peep and someone made this as a joke...(also their peep wedding colors are not cute..)

5. balloons and tiers..every girl dreams of a Cinderella wedding right? well apparently this bride was confused and instead of ordering the stagecoach for herself, she ordered it for her cakes and had it made out of balloons...her tiered cakes that are perfectly arranged to even out the space in the stagecoach....so ugly...

6. Hunting Theme... u have to guess these cakes are veal flavored right? or maybe dirt...it would go great with the camo themed dresses from the last blog!

7. No Murder
.. please do not incorporate murdering the father of your future babies on your wedding cake...its just wrong..and who wants blood on their slice..? not me!

8. Skinny Dipping Cake...i do wonder what the story is behind this cake...its kinda cute really...but the bra on the step just doesn't make it wedding appropriate no one thinks you two have ever been naked together..so keep it that way and keep your cloths on if you are gonna feature yourself on the cake...

9. Hire Someone who can spell...this one speaks for itself...

10. TYE DYE..while i love your free spirit hippie style, and you can actually pull of tye dye...this cake with the butterfly's, the teddy bears....its ugly!!! i am guessing there bridesmaids wore neon tye dye! it would only make sense right?

well this concludes blog 2...wedding cakes...please choose wisely!

6 dresses to avoid....

my dearest love trish is engaged...!!! as a excited and supportive friend i have put together a warning list of dresses she should avoid....trish since you are my only follower on this here blog i figure i can make this taliored to you...anyway..here are six dresses to avoid...

1. poof...poof..poof..poof poof...this dress is beyond poof..and poof is poopy! she even has her hair in a messy poof..just remember..to much poof is poopy and not pretty..

2.to much boobies!!
TRISH be careful of this one...i cant even look at this pic without double checking to make sure her nipples arent hanging out...its like..really what the hell..did she buy a dress made for an acup girl...did she get suprise brest implants after she ordered her dress...ugh!!! anyway...to much boob speaks for itself in this photo!

3. Not a dress....cause its a JUMPSUIT!!!! this was on a wedding blog as a new trend...not sure who is trending this..looks like a jlo outfit made in white...not for u...not for anyone..

4. Sports gowns...now if you awere marring allen iverson... this would still be ugly.. lets start with the obvious..mini skirt with flowing sheer making it a formal length...than there are the arm covers....its like cinderella trademark gloves went to the ghetto...weird...then there is the obvious intersting factor...the jersey logo with number...why number 3? i am guessing her FH(future husband)'s favorite players name is on the back...ahhh how romantic...the one thing missing from this outfit is some air force ones!

2. Renaissance ..just look at the picture..i cant say anything more..just no

6. nature with camo... now i know nature is going to be incorporated in to your ceremony..please think through this before ordering a new camo gown...

ahhh trish..i am so excited for you..i love you and i know that you will make the most perfect pretty birde ever! love u!

ps..this blog is me not wanting to clean my closet...

3 simple reasons i miss college.....

1. the bar in the afternoons that turn in to nights with $8 tabs at the end. Lots of memories made this way, no worries in the world except if the juke box is gonna acutlally play your song, and always friendly people around. Also, afternoon bar trips were jeans and tshirt days..nothing better than a afunny screen tee and a beer buzz to help u meet people!

2. having girls around!!! not just for the always needed laughs and pillow talks and rescuings...but always having someone in the living room to help you pick out an outfit!!!! i might miss this the most some days. I really need a group of girls telling me what to wear, i am so indesivie most mornings and my husband could care less which shoes i wear with those jeans...

3. It being ok to hang out with a large group of guys on a regular basis...may sound funny but its true i miss having large amount of guy friends to laugh with, go workout with, shop with(in a few cases) and drink with!

beer for girls

now there are only two things on my mind this Friday after noon..the first one is not gonna be talked about and the second is a cold beer (wish i could share a pitcher with you trishy)

here are my top 5 beers.....

1. apricot ale by pyramid ---great flavor, great taste, great buzz!
2. blue moon honey wheat ---introduced to me in college, only good on tap..but oh so good with a slice of orange!
3. Kokanee -- college favorite for my paydays, had to have a Canadian beer on the list!
4. Coors light --- blue mountains, cheep, great out of a can, always available
5. Ram's Blonde Ale --- yummmmm, only order it by the pitcher!

just shy of making the top five... busch light(for the memories), widmer, and classic blue moon...

its almost 5 o'clock!

coming soon...my favorite wines...!

inspiration in a closet

i am looking for the perfect inspiration for my closet....its the only space in my new house that will be 100% mine...(sharing space and agreeing on how to decorate is a challege in marriage) anyway..i want to go girlie...i want to go romantic...i want to go glamorus....here are some of my inspration photos...

i am leaning toward the pink and very light purple..maybe with black and white and crystal accents...but i really really like the dusty rose color in the last photo too...so hard to choose...but so excited to get started....
