Going Gothic....

"I will stand by your side, hunt at your back, and fly within your Soul.
I will stand between you and all which would harm you.
I will shield you from the Light of Day with my flesh.
I will never betray you, for you are my Heart, my Soul and my Life."

Aren't those romantic vows? i find them intriguing, mysterious, and they bring deeper meaning of knowing your other half will be there for you, haunting your back...always by your side..
As you embark on the journey of choosing a wedding theme there is one popular theme where these vows fall in to place. This theme would bring together a magical powers of love and provide a wedding like never seen before by any of your guests...The ever romantic gothic theme.....lets start with the perfect invitations to this event..
the first is for goths with humor and could be used in other themes...committed in straight jackets sets the tone that your gothic wedding will be like no wedding anyone has attendedbefore....

now this next invitation sets a more serious tone.....but i think it would work nicely. I really like the red blood faded heart on the skull...nice detail...

The next element for your gothic wedding that should be the colors....here are your choices...

BLACK, BLOOD RED, BLACK, DARK PURPLE, BLACK, GRAY and BLACK....i know so many choices, how will you ever decide?

As we move forward in your planning you need to begin to think about location....now locations for gothic weddings need to set the tone. I have selected a few pictures of great places you should consider....

The first would be for an outdoor setting. Not only do you have an old vacant structure, you have the moss, the spooky forest and staircases. I could envision this location at dusk becoming the perfect place for your wedding seance. I would recommend tiki torches, old rusty chairs for your guests and possible a huge spotlight to make it look like a huge full moon above you...

this next gothic location.... looks so spooky in the snow. A mansion or castle are perfect for gothic weddings because one they are old and two they can easily be made to look spooky. In many cases some of these large homes have spirits that visitors say live there or visit there. Being near the spirits is an important element if you want to truly full fill your gothic theme.

While the first two pictures i showed were not local for you and alex. There are some locations on both sides of our state that would full fill the haunting aspect of the gothic wedding. Two which are pricier..and one i think you could do for free...the first is the davenport, which is said to have a number of ghost that could haunt your vows, the next would be thornwood castle in lakewood, which was brought over from Europe and rebuilt in lakewood around 1900, the third and cheapest would be to go out in to the woods of forks, and get hitched amongst the rain, moss, and mystery of the rain forest....so start picking...the spirits and ghost need to put it on their calenders...

Next up...the perfect gothic photo session....this couple dove into the theme and in this even the groom is in a white dress, posing as spirits for there engagement photos...so think cemetery for your engagement photos or pre-ceremony photos..it will really help set the tone for the theme...

Next up..and a VERY VERY important element of the gothic wedding...attire...the photos below will guide you, and inspire you to find the perfect gothic attire ideas. Here are your inspiration pieces...

first up...using the dark purple...white is of course to mainstream for your gothic wedding...just look at this bride she is glowing with gothic powers... i really think its important to point out the purple vial..and her tattoo...u should probably think about a few large tattoos before your big day to help with the theme..

next we have BLOOD RED.....

and now..the bride and groom who took there make-up in to the theme...she did however where white...i guess that's allowed in the gothic world if you put blood coming out your eyes...

i like this one because they look like ugly horror dolls...very gothic!

and last but not least..the winner in my mind of the gothic look..this stunningly beautiful bride and her father....

one thing good about going gothic for your wedding is not needing to tan...i appreciate that in a wedding..now remember as you plan attire..guys can get away with tuxes still..but top hats will help them pull off the theme...along with canes and creepy bow ties...

next up...for today's blog of gothic inspiration..is the cake..motivated by the last blog i am sure you are wondering what you should have for your event....here are three ideas...

those cakes need no commentary...all would work depending on the colors you would like to highlight. the first cake was from the same wedding as the purple bride....
Now no wedding is complete without the wedding song. So in closure of today's blog i would like you to take a listen to this one....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf_woz-Tp0I
thanks for reading..and happy gothic planning...

  1. OH MY GOSH!!!!!! First of all..there are so many decisions, how will I ever choose???? I think I would go with the dark purple dress, the blood make-up, and I DEFINITELY have to have engagement photos in the cemetary!!! That's a must!!! hahahahahahaha My ultimate favorite is the poop cake with skulls. It literally looks like a goth pooped and used it as cake. I can't believe people actually do this in their wedding!! What inspiration! hahahahaha. Also...might I add billy Idol's white wedding song is a classic and must be my "first dance song".

The invites were hilarious! "Until Death" hahahahahaha Could you imagine if you got that in the mail...ewwww I would be scared.

    YOU CRACK ME UP.
